"Weekly car news " is a recap of some of the major stories in Taiwan car market last week.

7th October 2024

●Sime Darby Auto Kia officially launched the facelifted fourth-generation Kia Sorento series, with configurations and suggested prices as follows: Trendy with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine (starting at NT$1.659 million) and Apex AWD (starting at NT$1.899 million). Additionally, the Apex with a 1.6L turbo hybrid engine (starting at NT$1.799 million) and Signature AWD (starting at NT$1.949 million).

●Mercedes-Benz Taiwan officially launched the second facelift of the Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer, with a suggested price starting at NT$2.29 million. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2025.

●The Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr. Alex Mylius, Director of TÜV SÜD Germany, to establish the nation's first standardized verification capabilities that comply with UN R155, R156, and R157 regulations. This will help local industries shorten the time to enter international markets, obtain cybersecurity protection, software update guidance, and lane-keeping assistance system development certification, thus enhancing international competitiveness.

●Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Taiwan announced that the VWCV ID. Buzz Pro S will officially launch on 18th October.

●Modena Motori Taiwan announced that the Ferrari 12Cilindri will be officially unveiled on 29th October.

9th October 2024

●Foxconn Technology Group hosted the "Hon Hai Tech Day (HHTD24)" where they officially unveiled the micro MPV Model A, the production version of Model B, the North American version of Model C, the multi-purpose SUV Model D, and the electric mid-size bus Model U.

●Gus Technology signed a technical cooperation agreement with Toshiba to jointly develop Niobium Titanium Oxide (NTO) lithium-ion battery cells.

●Hotai Motor held the "Hino Safety Driving Event" at the Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC).

●Yulon Nissan Motor held the final selection and award ceremony for the "2023-2024 Yulon Nissan Innovation Awards." The team "NISSAN Wang Lai Hao Ji Li" composed of National Dong Hwa University and Providence University won, receiving a Nissan Kicks e-POWER as the prize.
