Advantech, which had been devoted to IT for nearly 40 years, ranked 1st of market share of global industrial computers, and was also one of the top 5 international brands of Taiwan, began entering the application fields of automotive futuristic new technology from their vast product portfolio in recent years. The editors of Auto Future came to Advantech’s headquarters, which is located in Linkou, in the afternoon on 14th October to interview with Van Lin, the senior director of Service IoT business group, to discuss about Advantech’s deployment of automotive technology.

Advantech started from industrial computer field, and then gradually transformed into an IT company that takes AIoT as the foundation of technology. Advantech’s business is all around the globe and now further extends its operation to the automotive industry; Their WISE – PaaS platform connected Advantech’s strong edge computing with major global cloud computing (e.g., Microsoft’s Azure, Alibaba Cloud, Amazon’s AWS, etc.,) to expand to the related applications of Smart City. In addition to the cooperation of hydrogen electric bus with Tsai Ying Clean Energy, and the fleet intelligent management platform and driver behavior management of public bus in the “Intellectualization of Cities and Villages” project initiated by the government, most of the business scope are for the global markets… For instance, the uprising new star that emerged in recent years – Vietnam’s VinGroup, its subsidiary – VinFast had positively planning to build car manufacturing plants in Europe and USA. And its another subsidiary – VinBus, started to cooperate with Advantech to develop the most advanced intellectual electric bus management system. Moreover, apart from on-road vehicles, Advantech also cooperates with the famous heavy duty construction vehicle manufacturer – Komatsu in the driving safety and the operating efficiency of off-road vehicles, which utilizes AI computing and big data analysis to conduct driver assistance, image analysis of scenarios, behavior management of vehicle manipulators, to deploy AIoT technology applications in specified areas including mine grounds, ports, farmlands, etc., Either the OEM cooperation with carmakers, or the service-packaging cooperation with bus business operations in Taiwan, Advantech didn’t just sell products, but looks forward to collaborating with clients to provide solutions and create new values.
Advantech claimed to be the provider of solutions for enterprises in the field of automotive new technologies in the future. In other words, Advantech have no intention to enter the retail market of end users, but to pursue the quality and customized content of services. The “cost reduction” works won’t be the aim of Advantech. On the contrary, in the prerequisite of ISO 26262 "Road vehicles – Functional safety", providing various demands of operating safety and management standards of construction vehicles worldwide, and the products with stricter durability than passenger cars, will be the enterprise essence of Advantech that keeps challenging themselves.
